At the cheapest end of the lodging scale, the true budget hotels vary greatly in quality and many are located within the region around Monterrey's enormous bus station. Although this area is by no means the most attractive part of Monterrey, hotels here do suit those looking for a bargain.

Accommodation in Monterrey quickly fills to capacity at the weekends and can be hard to find, especially as many hotels reduce their rates on Friday and Saturday nights. If possible, look for hotels that are positioned away from busy, noisy streets. Bear in mind that whilst most of Monterrey's hotels do contain a fan, air conditioning come as a premium and you should expect to pay significantly more for a fully air-conditioned hotel guest room.

Those searching for budget accommodation in Monterrey will find some of the best value hotels are located along the Amada Nervo, which is situated on the southerly side of the bus station.

On the eastern side of central Monterrey and within the appealing Madero area, the Villas Parque Fundidora is a popular youth hostel and boasts some of the city's cheapest lodging, with accommodation in the form of dormitories with bunk beds, suiting students and backpackers.

For top-end, luxury hotels in Monterrey, the Zona Rosa is amongst the best places to stay. Accommodation in this part of Monterrey is never far from a restaurant, cafe or bar. A number of excellent brand hotels are spread around downtown Monterrey, such as the Radisson and Sheraton, where you expect air conditioning as standard, along with onsite restaurants, bars and regular discount hotel rates at the weekends.
