Nature lovers should consider visiting the Estanzuela Nature Reserve (Parque Natural La Estanzuela). This nature reserve is within easy reach of central Monterrey and also boasts a series of trails, scenic views and peaceful areas, often based around a winding stream. Cascada Cola de Caballo (Ponytail Waterfall)

Located on the outskirts of Monterrey, the natural Cascada Cola de Caballo waterfalls and quite dramatic in appearance and a popular photo opportunity, so be sure to bring your camera. The waterfalls are set within a large parkland and boast trails suitable for both hiking and mountain bikes.

Alameda Park

Located within the centre of Monterrey, the Alameda is a traditional Mexican park and is a great place to head on a hot, sunny day. The park provides welcomed shade with many large trees and seating areas, and also hosts a number of prominent city events throughout the year.

Parque La Pastora (Pastora Park / Monterrey Zoo)

A particularly tranquil spot close to the city of Monterrey, the Parque La Pastora covers more than 250 acres / 100 hectares and makes for a pleasant excursion.
